Increasing Financial Awareness amongst Youth in Turkey: An Update

The “Increasing Financial Awareness amongst Youth in Turkey” project, a collaboration between the Turkish Republic Ministry of Development, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Youth Association for Habitat, Visa Europe and member banks, provides critical training for poor and disadvantaged groups, in particular youth, which lack knowledge on the benefits of financial services and products or for those that have the knowledge but lack the access.


Body Shop International Lends Campaigning Prowess to HIV Activist Campaign

On World AIDS Day (1 December 2010), the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and The Body Shop launched a three-year campaign calling for increased activism and thus heightened public awareness regarding HIV. The global campaign, called “Be an activist”, urges people to take personal responsibility and thus lead the way in the response to HIV.


UNIDO and METRO Group Extend Alliance for Sustainable Food Supplies

Saatchi & Saatchi Offer Creative Flair to ‘Stigma Fuels HIV’ Campaign

In June 2011, the ‘Stigma Fuels HIV’ global multimedia campaign was launched in every UN workplace around the world representing a target audience of more than 100,000 employees in more than 140 countries. The aim of the campaign is to create awareness about the negative impact of HIV-associated stigma and discrimination in the UN workplace and to show that there is no tolerance for such behavior.


UNESCO and Panasonic Partner to Promote World Heritage Conservation and Environmental Education

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage Centre and Panasonic Corporation have launched a strategic partnership to promote sustainable development through World Heritage conservation and environmental education for the next generation.


The Stop TB Partnership: Ten Years On

In the 10 years since its founding by just seven partners in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership has attracted over 1000 partners that share its vision of a world free of tuberculosis. OCHA mobilizes and coordinates emergency humanitarian efforts around the globe and deploys the first international responders on the ground.


Three Million Poor in Africa and South Asia to Gain Access to Mobile Phone Numbers

Three million people living in poverty in Africa and South Asia—around 75 percent of them women—will gain access to low-cost mobile phones identities and mobile phone numbers following United Kingdom-based technology firm Movirtu’s commitment made to the Business Call to Action (BCtA).

IBM is partnering with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in promoting its efforts to highlight the challenges and opportunities facing a world of seven billion people—a milestone reached at the end of October 2011.

Report Shows Key Role of Tourism in Tackling Climate Change

Greenhouse gas emissions from the global tourism industry are set to at least double in the next 25 years unless more low carbon, resource efficient policies are developed, according to a new report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
