The ILO Programme on Safety and Health at Work aims to show the common interest of the public and the private sector in creating stable social, economic and ecologic framework conditions in developing countries.
The International Labour Organization (ILO), the German Corporation for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and Volkswagen (VW) are jointly planning, financing and implementing a Public Private Partnership Project on Occupational Safety and Health and Supply Chain Management. The project allocation is partly drawn from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development’s “2015 poverty reduction fund”. One major goal of the public private partnership initiative is to improve the overall OSH knowledge and to advocate best practices through project activities and the social partner network.
The project promotes social protection, better safety and health standards and the strengthening of labour inspection services. Focusing on VW suppliers, it addresses the challenge of how to effectively address the second economy (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises).
