UNDP and partners provide teachers and students with information about HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Congo

Summary

In the Republic of Congo, UNDP works with its partners to provide teachers and students with information about HIV/AIDS through workshops, peer education, theater groups, and research. UNDP and its partners work to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and to increase the self-confidence of the affected population.

In 2003, UNDP organized HIV/AIDS awareness workshops for business leaders in the country’s two major cities. More than 100 chief executives and heads of human resources and company medical services participated in the workshops. They discussed the impact of the epidemic on business, arrangements for people living with HIV/AIDS, human rights and ethical issues relating to HIV/AIDS in the workplace and practical steps for implementing HIV/AIDS programmes.
