UNMEER (UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response)

Telecom support and equipment needed: Connecting ebola patients and family members in Ebola Treatment Units

  • Overview

Ebola patients in isolation need to be able to talk and communicate with their families to support both their physical and mental recovery from this deadly virus. UNMEER is seeking partnerships with the telecommunications sector to provide technology services and equipment to enable patients inside Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs) to communicate with their families from logistics bases.

It is projected that there will be 60 ETUs. Skype will be use as the main client for voice communication for this project. Equipment needed could be ‘previously owned” – as long as skype can be used.
