Engage several stakeholders around carbon capture and substitution of fossil raw materials (Braskem’s “Value Proposition”)Project objectives
Sugarcane is used for energy, but also as raw material for Braskem’s I’m GreenTM Polyethylene.
The project objectives are to: show benefits of this new technology to society (carbon capture & substitution of fossil raw material, while addressing the same functions), engage actors around Sustainable Development, the value creation it encompasses and each one’s contribution, train in “life cycle thinking”, ensure that new technology does not require investments from customers (in order to adapt production process, for instance).
Society at large, due to the innovative technology, its associated carbon capture & contribution to emissions’ reduction, raw material providers (not only financially, but the introduction of a Code of Conduct is contributing to introducing best practices, which qualify them for further/additional market access), agri-business.Current progress
Launching this technology helped many companies (customers, suppliers) to reinforce their public commitment to Sustainable Development; the visibility promoted by media, etc. is reaching out to end consumers, who start to ask for this technology due to the mitigation of emissions (carbon capture, substitution of fossil raw materials); the introduction of a Code of Conduct (audited by an independent firm) for ethanol suppliers is generating a set of good practices in agriculture, which tend to become industry standard.Project URL
