RefuTea

RefuTea

  • Overview

    Vision / description

RefuTea is an online tea shop with a unique humanitarian purpose. We hand-package loose leaf teas to support refugee efforts and needs. Our goal is to open a sustainable greenhouse tea café where refugees can grow, blend, and hand-package the best tasting teas! This reduces a refugee’s need to be on government assistance programs by providing them an opportunity to integrate into the US workforce. While the greenhouse allows refugees to use their agricultural skills, the tea café provides refugees with an opportunity to enhance their English proficiency.

    Project objectives

Employ refugees and help them integrate into the US culture and workforce.

    Beneficiaries

    Refugees, Women, Men, Children.

    Current progress

Sales are generated through the online store and by selling the teas in local businesses and by holding events, like tea parties. Each quarter ten percent of sales is donated toward refugee resettlement agencies or refugee families directly. 2016 goals include selling in more stores in order to give larger donations.
Capital earned through business competitions has allowed for the launching of the online tea shop, and provided resources to support refugee needs.
