Microgrids Powering Rural Business Centers

Microgrids Powering Rural Business Centers

  • Overview

    Vision / description

OSOL is currently developing a concept to enable small-mid scale sustainable economic activities in rural communities where access to energy is a challenge. This concept relies on providing energy needed for business through locally produced energy sources in a complimentary structure and expanding the impact through microgrids that can help with the rural electrification of neighboring residents.

    Project objectives

The economic activities targeted are based on value adding activities of the locally available natural resources, (e.g. agri products, fish, minerals, waste). The project requires the engagement of expertise of renewable energy experts, as well as agri processing, recycling, and construction experts. The results expected are sustainable rural development by creating employment, access to energy and capacity building of community members.

    1. No poverty; 7. Affordable and clean energy; 8. Decent work and economic growth; 11. Sustainable cities and communities; 12. Responsible consumption and production; 13. Climate action; 15. Life on land; 17. Partnerships for the goals
